Emder Werft und Dockbetriebe GmbH (EWD) is the new name of the former repair department of the Nordseewerke-Yard.

This new name consciously recalls the tradition of the Nordseewerke business, which was formed in 1903 as "Nordseewerke – Emder Werft und Dock AG". EWD will continue to be managed as a wholly owned subsidiary of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems AG.

In the long term, shipbuilding production at EWD will be mainly kept up in the form of ship repair. EWD will then concentrate exclusively on its remit as a shipyard for repair and retrofitting. In this area, our initial starting conditions for a successful development at EWD are excellent. We possess

		experienced and technically versed employees;
		outstanding infrastructure (two floating docks, one dry dock and extensive quay facilities and specialized workshops); and
		the flexibility of a company organized as a mid-sized business.

This is the foundation on which we wish to build our business together with our customers and business partners in the four specific areas of:

		Merchant vessels
		Naval surface vessels
		Submarines
		Offshore
